(1) To extend the the number of mini-articles (and update them when necessary) so that it becomes a balanced and comprehensive selection of information and current ideas about the modern world and the direction in which it is heading. It is probable that the total number will ultimately be in the region of 500, each of about 300 to 400 words. We are interested in receiving such mini-articles either in their final suggested form (with full attributions where relevant) or longer articles or papers which are considered significant which we can render down. The purpose of the collection of mini-articles is to serve as a basic "briefing document" which will satisfy readers who wish to be well-informed "generalists". In these days of information-overload and specialisation, generalists are hard to find -- but, if anything, are more necessary than ever before. (2) To compile an index of WWW Pages which contain informative and educational material. At the present time,a search has not been started, but it is certain that the potential is vast. Also, we have not decided about how the material will be indexed. Feedback on any part of this would be welcome. (3) "High-tech" teaching materials. To maintain tutorials on techniques that are useful to authors and users of the Internet. For example, a tutorial on HTML would be a useful start. (4) "Low-tech" teaching materials -- more useful to people in their ordinary daily lives in their communities. For example, techniques of organic gardening, or making clothes. To receive teaching material of any sort for evaluation. Also, to encourage authors to write simple tutorials. There are, of course, a great many sophisiticated learning programs available -- on CD-Roms and so forth -- but, in the first instance, we seek simple text versions in which the elements of the subject are laid out in simple conceptual steps -- with or without opportunities for hyperlinked answers and reinforcement. In view of the rapidly-changing nature of Internet technology, it would be foolish to write material that would have to be extensively re-written and re-coded at a later date. It would be best at this stage to cover a wide curriculum with basic material rather than devote great effort into one or two specialised areas.
